My career as a stylist started when I was 4 years old and cut my own bangs.
I didn’t want my mom to find out, so I taped the hair I’d cut to my forehead thinking she’d never know. I also recall attempting to curl the hair of my life-size Barbie. But to my mother’s horror, it didn’t go over too well as her hair was synthetic and melted, filling our home with the smell of burnt plastic and leaving my Barbie looking like she’d stuck her finger in an electrical socket.
Fast forward to high school when while giving a friend a blowout, my dryer suddenly overheated and started shooting flames. There was also the time I tried to lighten a classmate’s hair, turning it bright white at the roots while leaving her ends an unsavory shade of neon orange.
Despite what may have been clear signs from the universe that I wasn’t a natural talent, perseverance won and I'm still in the industry after all this time. Don’t worry, my skills have vastly improved.
Thinking back on it now, I never expected to become a hairstylist. I had plans to study psychology, but I guess hair was always in the cards for me, and in a lot of ways my dream of becoming a psychologist came with it.
More recently, hair has given me the opportunity to pursue my passion for travel and find sources of inspiration throughout the world. My desire to grow (and fear of becoming stagnant) has taken me all over the country, where I’ve developed my craft through advanced education. I’ve trained with some of the best educators in the industry such as Bumble&Bumble, Goldwell, Vidal Sassoon, and countless others.
My philosophy when it comes to hair is that it should first be healthy. Our consultation will start with an in-depth look at your at-home care routine and will include product and styling recommendations based on your individual needs.
My aesthetic is natural, low maintenance, and effortless. My goal is to work with your natural texture to give you an organic cut that’s going to suit your lifestyle and bring out your best features. When it comes to color, I want to enhance your natural coloring by adding dimension and shine, while giving your color longevity and a seamless grow out.
I also believe you shouldn’t be obligated to visit the salon, because having your hair refreshed is a luxury. I want you to come to the salon because you want to, not because you have to. My desire is to provide you with a cut and/ or color service that's going to grow out beautifully with minimal maintenance, allowing you to go longer between salon visits, and enjoy your visit in each time.
Doing hair combines my passion for creativity and fashion with my love of people.
I’ve now worked in salons since I was 16—my first job was as a receptionist in high school where I learned the behind-the-scenes of the industry and customer service.
After graduating from the Aveda institute in 2011, I went to work as a color specialist in Minneapolis. Then in 2014, I made the move to Bozeman and picked up a pair of shears, and spent the subsequent years focusing on learning the art of cutting.
